New site: Womens Conference 2010
I’ve got a new site that is live that I coded. It is the Women’s Conference 2010 site. I worked with our Design and Software Development departments. A big shout out to Ben Good who did the design and flash as well as Celia Tate who helped hook up a lot of the backend code. I coded all the front-end stuff.
The site was coded fully with DIV’s and made browser compatible with IE6,7 & 8 as well as Firefox, Safari and Chrome. The site features a domtab section for signup and tell-a-friend modules. It also has some nice JavaScript rollover effects going on with the thumbnails in the right column and the Downloads page. They fade from black & white to color. We also used a partially transparent background to the main site content to give it a different look and feel. I like the big background graphic. To accomplish the partially transparent look I had to either use CSS code or generate a partially transparent PNG graphic with Fireworks CS4. This is done by selecting PNG8 and Alpha Transparency from the export settings dialog box. A very cool process that has the added benefit of being able to be seen in IE6! (hint: it doesn’t work all that great on just text in the graphic. Looks choppy and jagged. But on regular transparencies it works like a charm.)
This is the first version of this site. We will be adding additional elements to it as time goes on till the conference next year in September.
Here’s a link to the WC10 site.
